Craftsmanship of LAOS

As time passes slowly, the people of Laos continue to live a life of "making the things they need for daily life themselves."

Starting with growing the raw materials, our craftsmen then painstakingly craft each and every product using the bounty of nature, including the dyes and materials.

Items that are made over a long period of time have a different look than items that are uniform and neat, and the more you use it, the more the texture develops and becomes more refined.

In today's Laos, where rapid development is occurring, many villagers, especially the younger generation, are giving up on manual labor as times change.

In order to preserve the careful handiwork of people who continue to protect traditions, Ms. Yonezawa of CREOLE continues to create sincere products together with artisans and village women, developing the handiwork passed down from generation to generation into new forms.

BAMBOO

- Bamboo -

Bamboo tools are indispensable to life in Laos. A wide variety of items are made from bamboo, from interior items such as sake bottles and low tables to fishing tackle and containers for storing knives used at work.

NATURAL DYEING

- Natural dyes -

It is dyed with natural dyes such as indigo for blue and mud for grey.
After dyeing, they are returned to the soil.
Just as vegetables and fruits have their own seasons, some colors can only be dyed during certain seasons, and some colors change over time. This is also the appeal of dyeing with the blessings of nature.

WOVEN FABRIC

Laos is made up of 50 ethnic minorities, each with their own unique weaving culture rooted in their land.
The process of making cloth starts with growing cotton in nearby fields. Originally, weaving was a way to make clothes for the family.
Even today, the sight of women weaving cloth on their eaves is an everyday scene in Laos.
