NATURAL FARMING
Representative Yuya Kimijima came across high-quality fruits such as Tunisian dates while traveling around the world, and founded Anbessa & Co. in 2010 with the aim of importing organic dried fruits.
At the same time, he moved to Minamiboso City, Chiba Prefecture, surrounded by abundant nature, and together with his wife, Akuri, he is working to live a self-sufficient life through natural farming methods.
We cultivate crops such as rice, wheat, beans, and vegetables using traditional methods that are as close to nature as possible, such as clearing fallow fields, planting rice in seedling beds, and then hand-planting each seedling that grows.
In the mountain orchard, they grow plums, summer oranges, loquats, black currants, and other fruits without fertilizer or pesticides, and also keep Japanese honeybees. There is a natural cycle in which bees pollinate the trees and make them bear fruit, so they build the orchard while thinking about what will happen several years down the line.
Behind this lifestyle is a desire to understand the work of producers, as an organic food importer and wholesaler. This is not only out of consideration for the natural environment, but also to deepen his knowledge and insight into the organic produce he handles and to interact with the producers.

NATURAL BUILDING & ENERGY
The actual store, Organic Grocery Abyssinia, was designed and constructed by Kimijima himself, and was self-built over a period of three and a half years. It is a "return to the earth" store that uses only materials found in the surrounding area, such as mountain clay, sea sand, thinned wood, and rice husks.
This off-grid (not connected to the power company's power grid, i.e. self-sufficient in electricity without relying on the power company) community space also functions as a base of operations in the event of a disaster, with its own power generation on the rooftop solar panels, composting toilets, and well water supply.
By utilizing renewable energy, we aim to produce dried fruit using 100% self-generated power, which has been difficult to achieve until now using existing generators alone.

AMBESSA & CO
Based on the philosophy of "PURE, NATURAL & SUSTAINABLE", this husband and wife business mainly focuses on importing and wholesaling high-quality organic food ingredients.
The products they sell are grown organically (without pesticides or chemical fertilizers). They don't use any additives or preservatives, and they keep processing to a minimum. They cherish the natural flavor of the produce themselves, such as leaving dried fruits with the stems and stems attached, and leaving nuts raw without roasting.
While growing crops based on natural farming in the lush Minamiboso city of Chiba prefecture, we are also involved in activities to promote the use of natural architecture and renewable energy, and to spread the word about their appeal.
In addition, in cooperation with local organic farmers, we effectively commercialize agricultural products that do not meet the standards or that would otherwise be discarded due to overproduction. We are also working on CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), which helps to eliminate food waste and support primary industry products by purchasing them.
