Leaf box with lid
A Thai steaming basket made from palm leaves called a "gatip". Like the Laotian "thip khao", it is used like a rice cooker to hold steamed glutinous rice.
The colors and silhouettes of the designs vary depending on the region, but this is a somewhat unusual shape that is mainly used in northeastern Thailand.
They are loosely woven from palm leaves, which have a unique flexibility and elasticity, giving them a rustic feel that is different from those made from bamboo.
The cute round shape makes it a great container for small items. You can also store sweets and tea bags in it to enjoy tea time with guests.
